In contrast to "conventional" powered subwoofers like all the others featured on this website that require you to separately purchase and run a (perhaps quite long) subwoofer cable from the LFE subwoofer output on the back of your home theater receiver across the room to the input on the subwoofer, a wireless powered subwoofer lets you locate the sub anywhere in the room that's near an AC power outlet. We recommend you plug it into a Monster SW 200 subwoofer power center.
Wireless powered subwoofers like those pictured in the Amazon Slideshow to the left from Boston Acoustics, Infinity, JBL, KEF, Polk Audio, and Velodyne include a wireless transmitter (which must be plugged into AC power) that connects to the subwoofer output on the surround sound receiver and transmits the low frequency effects bass signal wirelessly to the subwoofer without the need for a cable. |
